Give us a call today at 718-273-8686 to schedule your consultation with Dr. Marcia Greene and learn more about how Myobrace in Staten Island, New York, can help you or your child achieve a healthy, straight smile!

Myobrace is a natural, no-braces approach to orthodontic treatment. The goal of Myobrace treatment is to create a healthier smile and promote optimal facial development so that patients can enjoy a smile that is both beautiful and fully functional throughout their lives. This treatment focuses on correcting the poor oral habits that cause crooked teeth, gently breaking those habits while simultaneously encouraging proper growth and development, and using specialized appliances to move the teeth into their proper positions.

Other benefits of Myobrace treatment include:

  • Improved posture
  • Fewer allergies
  • Fewer problems with the teeth, mouth, and jaw joints (TMJ)

Ideally, Myobrace treatment will begin between 6-10 years of age, when the patient is still growing and the first permanent teeth are beginning to erupt. Patients over age 15 may also receive this treatment, but the problems and habits causing crooked teeth are often more difficult to correct.

Myobrace appliances are worn overnight during sleep, as well as for 1-2 hours each day as directed. Dr. Greene will also provide a series of exercises that encourage proper tooth movement as part of treatment. These exercises may include activities to improve breathing, muscle function, and tongue posture. Because Myobrace treatment is similar to a training program, achieving the best results requires commitment and persistence. There is also a biological component to consider – in some cases the treatment may progress rapidly, and in other cases it may take more time. Remember, the sooner Myobrace treatment is begun, the greater the benefits and the more permanent the result will be.

In terms of total treatment time, Myobrace is similar to traditional orthodontic treatment. The cost of Myobrace treatment is also comparable to braces, and you will be provided with an exact fee by our dentist before beginning treatment. Some sensitivity may be noticed during the first few days of treatment, but this should subside fairly quickly.

We invite you to contact our office for more information about Myobrace treatment and to make your appointment with our skilled dentist. We look forward to helping you create a beautiful smile!
